Linn, y Cia, Columbus Ohio bearing USA 2 x 1c from different issues tied Vera Cruz Mex. /U.S.M.AG duplex 1 date stamp...................... In the spring of 1914 relations between the USA & Mexico were strained & the arrest of seamen from USS Dolphin & later another from USS Minnesota with no apology plus a shipment of arms from Germany for Mexican forces on it's way to Vera Cruz caused Admiral F.F. Fletcher to land US Marines & Sailors on 21 April, to take control of Customs House & prevent delivery leading to occupation of the city. On 30 April General Funston's soldiers arrived to take over control of all onshore duties. The occupation ended 23 November after just 7 months

The continued internal Mexican problems & civil war resulted in US concerns for her borders & this short lived date stamp issued 28 Feb 1913 to the US Army 2nd Div. Texas City charged with protecting the borders was less than 6 months later on 1 Nov 1913 changed to Texas City Military Station date stamp.
