[19673] PHILIPPINE Is-USA…SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR... 1900 (Feb 28) War Department Official Business Penalty stationary envelope with Official Business deleted & adhesive affixed over Penalty annotation used privately from Philippino sounding name Luis - la Rodus au Jesus, 28th Infantry to Philadelphia bearing USA 2c overprinted Philippines tied Mil. Sta. No 1 Manila duplex & on reverse Philadelphia (6 Apr) arrival cds......................... 25 April 1898 saw the outbreak of the Spanish-American war but it was not until 4 Feb 1899 fighting occurred against US forces in the Philippines & although the insurrection was officially declared ended 4 July 1902 fighting continued specially on Mindanao where the Muslim Moros held out until 5 June 1913.

[19556] AUSTRALIA …WW2 USA FORCES in AUSTRALIA MISSENT MAIL… 1942 (May) General Headquarters Southwest Pacific Area office of the Commander in Chief Penalty printed envelope to Ellis St., Brisbane that was Missent to APO 922 located Townsville Qld with on reverse American Base Forces /APO 922 (7 May) located Townsville & with on face GV1 2½d tied Brisbane (15 May) date stamp overlaid by unclear Melbourne cds & with violet diamond framed 1 /Passed /By /Censor /46 with broken frame lines (As at July 2008 this is not recorded by the CCSG but I have handled one other example dated Aug 1942) plus violet double rimmed circular U.S.A.F.I.A. /73 /Passed By Censor hand stamp (According to Richard W. Helbock in "Passed By Army Censor " Censor 73 was used by APO 923 between 30 Jul 42 - 14 Feb 43 this extends the earliest date).......................A very unusual double censored missent item from US forces.
