[18897] PALESTINE - EGYPT…1936 PALESTINE UPRISING … 1936 (Dec 3) Plain stampless envelope to Station Administration Officer, RAF Depot, Middle East, Aboukir, Egypt cancelled Field Post Office 26 cds located at Sarafand between 1 Oct 36 - 10 Jan 1937 & with violet oval No 2 Wireless Company /3 Dec 1936 / Royal Signals hand stamp & on reverse M.P.O. /Cairo (4 Dec) transit & M.P.O. /Aboukir (5 Dec) arrival cds.................................. A full scale uprising in April 1936 by Palestinian Arabs against British colonial rule in mandated territory resulted in Britain sending more troops and an Army Postal unit via H.M.T "Dorsetshire" where FPO 12 opened on board and a further 10 FPO's between numbers 15 - 26 on arrival the first opening on 1 October with the last closing on 10 January 1937 after problems had subsided by the end of 1936 only to reoccur again in September 1937.
